KHRISTEN AVERY OF COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND NAMED NJCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Khristen Avery of the College of Southern Maryland was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week for December 9, 2009.
Avery, a native of Waldorf, Md., posted four consecutive double-double performances last week for CSM. She began the week with a 15 point, 22 rebound output on Dec. 2 in a 60-68 loss to Chesapeake and then tallied 34 points with 21 rebounds in a 58-46 win over Passiac on Dec. 4. On Dec. 5 in a 61-34 loss to Tidewater, Avery scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds followed by a 14 point, 21 rebound game in a 56-47 loss to Northern Virginia on Dec. 6. For the week she scored 81 points and hauled in 75 rebounds.
