BALTIMORE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PLACES TWO HOOPSTERS ON NJCAA PRE-SEASON ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS
12/2/2009
Baltimore City Community College has been honored with the selection of two student athletes, John Williams and Charda Lomax, to NJCAA Pre-Season Basketball All-American Teams.
John Williams, a 6-5, 200 pound forward, was selected to the third team. Williams was All-JUCO second team in 2008-2009. He is a sophomore from Baltimore, MD and Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School, majoring in General Studies. Last season, he averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots per game.
Williams has the unique ability to score in the paint as well as the perimeter and is a tough matchup for opposing teams. He plays both ends of the floor and is a strong defender and rebounder. An excellent leader, John is a two year team captain for the Panthers. Williams is being heavily recruited as he enters his sophomore year and is interested in playing overseas when his college career is complete.
Charda Lomax, a shooting guard, was named a 2nd Team Pre-Season All-American. In 2008-2009, she averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
Charda carries a 3.3 GPA. In addition to her strong academics, she has been Team Captain both seasons and a team leader on and off the court. One of the more mature players on the team, she hopes to play beyond college.
Congratulations to John and Charda!
