FREDERICK, Md. – Although the scores and statistics will not be recorded in the records of any the participating squads, Cecil College, Anne Arundel Community College, Northern Virginia Community College and Hood College each turned in winning performances in the fight against cancer.
Hosted by Hood College in Frederick, Md., the four men’s lacrosse teams recently took the field for the Breast Cancer Awareness Play Day. Each team played two exhibition matches, and all of the proceeds from the event went to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
“We put out an incredible effort in both of our games and supported a great cause at the same time,” said David Eddinger, Cecil College head men’s lacrosse coach.
After competing as a club team in the spring, Cecil College is gearing up for its first season of varsity men’s lacrosse in 2015. The Seahawks are scheduled to open the campaign at Northern Virginia Community College on Feb. 28 and then return home to take on County College of Morris the following day.
